{Wall Inspiration} Art For Your Home

So, I get people who ask me all the time- "What is 'photo art'?" Our minds are trained to think of photography on the small scale- especially when it comes to photos of our families. Well, custom photographers are on a mission to change that!
"Photo Art" refers to using photographs as art pieces in your home. Paintings, framed landscapes, and abstracts come as 20x30, so why not portraits? 8x10's and 11x14's don't hold a candle to a beautiful 16x24 over your living room couch. Or why not try a gallery grouping?
Here are some ideas to get the juices flowing and you'll see why bigger really is better!

{Beach Bums} | Gwinnett County Photographer

If you're like me, you look forward to an annual beach trip every summer. I love creating these memories for my children and try to capture them at every visit. Since I shoot portraits for a living, I sometimes find it difficult to be creative while trying to relax and forget about work for a week. I decided a few years ago that I wouldn't focus on getting posed photographs of my boys, but rather document them as they play and interact with the sand and surf. I am less stressed about getting "the shot" and they get to enjoy their time too instead of always posing for Mommy! Next time you and your family get away, I suggest trying to capture them as they are- you will enjoy your R&R a lot more!

{Featured} Moss Floral Design

You may remember Kati and Matthew's gorgeous farm wedding from back in May. The artists behind the beautiful flower arrangements contacted me about featuring some of my flower shots on their blog. I was happy to oblige- I took a ton of photos of the arrangements because they matched so well with the feeling of the wedding and the venue. They were rustic yet elegant and simply stunning! Thanks ladies for the feature and the love!

It's almost done- just putting the finishing touches on the blog and Facebook page. Get ready for a new look, new name, and some fun sessions!

If you are an upcoming senior, give the studio a buzz and be part of the fun!

{Shannon and David} Wedding | Gwinnett County Photographer

Shannon contacted me at the end of last summer last year to cover her June wedding. I actually didn't plan on shooting any weddings in 2011, but she is such a sweetheart, I couldn't say no. Shannon and I both graduated from the same high school and have worked together on shoots for her adorable kids clothing Southern Stitches.

Shannon and David chose Athens as host to their wedding festivities. I was excited to get back there, as I haven't been since March. June weddings are lovely, but never fail to be hot! And this Saturday just happened to be the one day that week that it chose to rain. Ok, not just rain, downright storm, lightning and all! But everyone was so upbeat and positive and we got some great shots anyway! I had a tough time narrowing down my favorites, so this post is a bit long! Thank you guys so much for allowing me to capture your special day- I had a blast!

{Brittany and Jody} Gwinnett County Maternity Photographer

It's been a while since I have had the pleasure of shooting a maternity session, so I was thrilled when Brittany contacted me to do hers! She was clear that she didn't want to make the session too serious, but keep it fun and lighthearted- just like them! I was happy to oblige- maternity sessions are very versatile and immediately the wheels in my head started to turn. Since Brittany works at a bakery, it was only fitting to include pink cupcakes (and thanks for letting me bring them home to my boys afterwards! They were dee-licious!). The mommy-to-be also brought a fruit that was quite fitting! We met up on a beautiful stretch of land right here in Loganville and the light could not have been more gorgeous- I wonder if they rent that place out to photographers! It was a pleasure meeting you both and I can't wait to see you again after your beautiful baby girl is born next month!
